unbelievable

bitsmart's first album. somewhat lo-fi, but good music nonetheless. I have to be honest, I rushed the release because I had been working on it for 2.5 years and I wanted to start fresh. thus, it's lacking in production quality, but the substance is all there. click the image to see the album cover...

persistence of vision

the new album, which is in production right now. technically, it will be quite complex, and acoustically it will sound reasonably professional. I have big plans for p.o.v. so stay tuned. click the image to see the album cover...

dj bitsmart - the binary sessions

mixing mp3s in software vs. mixing vinyl on turntables both have pros & cons...however, one undeniable fact makes software far more powerful than turntables...you can mix virtually any song in existence! you're not limited to what's on vinyl. unsigned artists, obscure samples, rare remixes, etc. can all be a part of your mix. I encourage people to give it a try, you might be surprised.

the binary sessions are an ongoing series of mixes done in atomiXmp3, with each mix showcasing my favorite tracks and sub-genres, stuff you almost never hear other DJs mix. yes, software is somewhat more "automated" than turntables, but that let's me focus solely on track selection and programming. beats are rarely out of synch and I can see what's coming up in the track before its heard.

anyway, I'm not putting anyone or anything down. I love turntables and vinyl, and if money was no issue I'd be spinning my ass off. I have great respect for all the skilled DJs out there, and I really believe it's the end product that counts. it doesn't matter how you get there...

:. collaborations

i've always liked collaborating on tracks with my friends, though these special occasions were quite rare. the whole reason I put this site up was to encourage more collaboration on art, so hopefully there will be more here soon.
